Dissertation research: reclaimed clay

Within the past few weeks I have been learning how to reclaim waste clay. I have been making pinch pots with the results and combining the clay bodies with handmade frit and waste porcelain slip. Currently exhibiting work at the Lowe-Holland Gallery, Cornwall as part of their Underpin exhibition. Underpin is a collection of fine art and contemporary craft by Falmouth University students. The exhibition will be running from the 3rd- 28th June 2015, private view 11th June @ 6pm.

Experimenting with clay inclusions that burn out during the kiln firing. Soup plate has mixed soup ingredients (including lentils, rice, peas and barley) folded into the clay which I then rolled into a plaster mould.

Currently I am casting disposable plastic objects in ceramics. Rather than using slip, I am forcing clay into plaster moulds with my hands. This has given me much greater control over the weight and texture of each piece.
