After looking at the work of Anna Dorothea Therbusch, I was interested in portraying myself as I really am. In states and moods that are hidden from others. This placed me in a vulnerable situation, I noted that these moments are shared with other people when they become a safer part of you. For this reason I created a series of self portraits that focus on me the moment I wake up.

I experimented with different formal qualities such as rough lines and dulled colours expressing my untamed appearance. In this image the board marker is non-permanent to illustrate the temporary nature of my portrayed state.
